During the night a hippo had made himself comfortable at the waterhole in front of the lodge and in the morning slowly moved off to one of the large pans further down the road; we followed him as he slowly grazed next to the vehicle. A large elephant bull was next to be found as he slowly grazed on some Marulas. Leaving the elephant we came across three rhino’s just around the corner busy making their way towards a pan to have their early morning drink. We then found a lion lying in some thick bush and close by also managed to spot a young male leopard; they were both very relaxed and had not noticed each other yet. General game was in abundance with great sightings once again of giraffe, zebra, blue wildebeest and impala. All the birds were also out with spectacular sightings of bateleurs and tawny eagles. The afternoon drive started off once again with great sightings of general game on the open area in front of the lodge; they offered us great photographic opportunities as they slowly grazed next to the vehicle. We then came across two large elephant bulls grazing next to the road and further on found a small breeding herd of buffalo that had made themselves comfortable for the night. Just past one of the waterholes we were rewarded with a leopard lying next to the pan. We spent some time with him and then slowly started making our way back to the lodge. On our drive way we found the five rhinos from last night. |
