We spotted the Lioness during the evening on the Africam camera, but this morning she was nowhere to be found and there was still a lot of meat on the carcass of the wildebeest. General game was in abundance with great sightings of Kudu, Nyala and Giraffe. We followed up on Mvula (male leopard) who was still on his kudu kill. While watching him he went for a drink of water and offered us some stunning photos. We stopped for our Coffee and were joined by 8 Giraffe who wanted to have a closer look at us. We then slowly started making our way back to the lodge and came across a Rhino marking his territory next to the road. As we got closer to the lodge a Hyena came dashing out of the bush and ran right past the vehicle. He tried to scavenge something from the Wildebeest kill and had been spooked by something. On leaving the lodge for the afternoon drive we again drove past the wildebeest carcass but there was no activity so we moved on. We then found a herd of Elephants drinking and having a mud bath enjoying the cool weather. Just before sunset we followed up on Safari (female Leopard). She got too close to Mvula (male leopard) and his kill, and he chased her up a tree after which he laid under the tree and watched to make sure she stayed away from his dinner. While enjoying our sundowners we were joined by two Rhinos that crossed the road about 30 meters in front of us ,and then disappeared into some bushes. We then slowly started making our way back to the lodge to enjoy our dinner. |
