Our first sighting on this very crisp morning was of four lioness drinking water at one of the pans close to the lodge. We then found an elephant bull debarking a tree; they are such beautiful animals but can be very destructive at times. Next to be found was a male leopard in a tree with its kill. Further along we came across a breeding herd of about two hundred buffalo slowly grazing on one of the open plains, and on closer inspection we just managed to spot a rhino bull right in the middle of them. As always plenty of general game was seen, such as zebra and waterbuck. The afternoon drive started off with four of the Styx’s seven lioness. They were lying close to the boundary of the Kruger National Park and unfortunately crossed over into the Park where we were no longer able to follow. We had some great sightings of general game: giraffe, kudu, zebra and waterbuck. The highlight of the day was most definitely of the female leopard, Ntima, and her four month old cub on a duiker kill. |
