We had no morning drive as the guests had decided to lie in. But general game in front of the lodge was great with sightings of the hippo that sleeps in the pan each night as well as zebra, impala, blue wildebeest, warthogs and baboons. We had a fantastic evening drive with general game once again in abundance. On the open area in front of the lodge we viewed impala, blue wildebeest, zebra and warthogs as they were all making their way down to the pan to enjoy there late afternoon drink. The jackals that are often seen on the open area were tonight playing in the road. At the pan behind the lodge we found a large rhino drinking; we spent some time with him before he moved off into the thick bush. We then found a large elephant bull next to the road; he was very interested in us and came very close to the vehicle. We then encountered a small breeding herd of buffalo slowly crossing the road and also moving off in the thick bush. The highlight of the drive was the sighting of Nyaleti, female leopard; we were not able to stay with her long as she was on the hunt but she offered us great photographic opportunities. Upon making our way back to the lodge we once again found a rhino on the driveway but did not spend much time with her as they are sensitive to the lights. |
